Boston Acoustics introduces new surround speakerset

NEW SOUNDWARE XS 5.1 SURROUND SPEAKER SYSTEM:
“BIG SOUND” FROM BOSTON ACOUSTICS’ SMALLEST LOUDSPEAKERS EVER
The system features the smallest loudspeakers Boston Acoustics has ever introduced – five ultra-compact SoundWare XS satellites, each measuring less than 4 inches, plus a compact subwoofer. Artfully designed to complement any interior décor, each tiny satellite provides the rich audio power and performance of a true two-way speaker, with a 2½-inch (65mm) woofer and a ½-inch (13mm) tweeter. An attractive compact powered subwoofer completes the system with a 100-watt (250-watt Peak) amplifier and 8-inch (200mm) driver. The SoundWare XS 5.1 system is expected to be available in September 2009 in both black and white.
The tiny SoundWare XS satellites feature SoundWare’s signature polyhedron shape, as well as the line’s unique articulating mounting bracket, which allows for an unprecedented range of easy and flexible placement options. They can be installed into a corner, in the middle of a wall, where the wall meets the ceiling, or even placed behind a couch facing straight up for total invisibility. The two included brackets mount the speaker just 1 cm from any flat surface or flush in a corner, and when mounted flush on a wall, the speaker can be aimed downwards or sideways to provide ideal positioning.
The SoundWare XS system’s 8-inch powered subwoofer, with its powerful 100-watt (250-watt Peak) amplifier and compact design, can be hidden in a corner, placed behind furniture, or can take “center stage” without taking over your living room. This great sounding and great looking powered subwoofer completes this amazing surround sound speaker system.
For consumers who want to customize the look of their SoundWare speakers to stand out or complement the décor of any environment, all SoundWare speakers feature “Paint-Ready” cabinet surfaces.
Boston Acoustics ahead of the curve with latest loudspeaker series introduction

Leading audio brand Boston Acoustics has unveiled another striking series of designs that mean great sound has a radical new look. The VS Series of loudspeakers combine richly detailed audio performance with striking styling and furniture-grade cabinetry.
And as with all class-leading Boston Acoustics designs the VS series comes with a serious splash of colour thanks to a selection of elegant, piano lacquer cabinet finishes and high-gloss end panels. These include red, white or black gloss for the enclosure partnered with a choice of cherry, maple, silver, red, ebony or black for the end panels.
But behind the brash new look of the five-strong line-up is some serious sonic R&D, as befits Boston’s three-decade engineering pedigree. Founded in 1979, Boston Acoustics has a long history of combining high performance with elegance that has led to a wide range of innovative and multi award-winning products.
Reflecting the seamless merging of art and science that defines VS, the ‘wave-like’ curved surfaces of the speaker cabinet reduce internal standing waves and panel resonances to deliver far superior sound quality over the standard speaker ‘box’. Additionally, substantial internal bracing enhances the strength of the cabinets to provide an ideal environment for high-performance sound.
Moreover, innovative driver design yields exceptional sonic characteristics. The range implements a proprietary Super Wide Bandwidth (SWB) Tweeter featuring a Coupled Dual Concentric Diaphragm (CDCD). This system dramatically minimises phase shift and distortion while improving pistonic motion. This offers the clearest sound at the highest frequencies.
Elsewhere, the VS Series uses Organic Composite Cone Material (OCCM). This new cone composite was developed to have superior sound characteristics, especially in the midrange frequencies. The use of select natural fibres makes the material less uniform, thereby virtually eliminating the inherent tones that many other common cone materials give as their characteristic sound. By using OCCM along with other premium transducer components, such as aluminium cast baskets and rubber surrounds, allows VS loudspeakers to achieve higher output and improve accuracy.
Gold-plating on the binding posts completes the high quality package.
The result is the best performing, best-looking products Boston Acoustics has produced.
The full range comprises the VS336 three-way floorstanding loudspeaker (from £2,499.00 depending on finish), the VS240 two-way bookshelf (from £599.00), the VS260 two-way bookshelf with 6 1⁄2” drivers (from £1,199.00), the VS325C three-way centre channel (from £649.00), and VPS210 Class-D 500 watt subwoofer (from £1,199.00).
